It's Officially Official...

...He's In Iraq



Charlotte got a call from Erick last night. He is in Iraq. He wasn't sure where in Iraq he was, but they were leaving from there to head to Fallujah.

There are supposedly 3 computers where Erick will be and each guy will get a chance to use them every two weeks or so. ErickLohse@yahoo.com is his email if you'd like to send a message.

Also, mom said he can use baked goods if you'd like to mail some of those.

KUWAIT

Mom got a call on Saturday evening from the USMC phone tree thing saying "all of the units have arrived safely in Fallujah." Then a call from Erick on Sunday morning saying, "Hi Mom, I'm in KUWAIT." It sounds like a VERY reliable military phone tree.

His calling card was running out and his debit card unfortunately isn't working so he couldn't buy a new card. So, they didn't get to talk long. He said the travel thus far had been on commercial airliners so they were very comfortable. He said Kuwait is beautiful. He is at a base in Kuwait and wasn't sure when he'd be going into Iraq. That was about the extent of it.

Charlotte- He wanted to call you too, but I don't know if he was able to. Hopefully one of his friends let him borrow a phone card.

Two More Days in the US of A's

The California Lohse Crew (TCLC), Mom, Pop, John, Thomas and Erick's GF Charlotte, returned last night from their trip to Cali. wishing Erick a fond farewell. He leaves bright and early on Thursday morning to head to Iraq. It is a LONG trip. He told the TCLC that it would take about 9 days for them to get there. First a stop in North Carolina to pick up some weapons, then a refueling in Germany, then to Kuwait then into helicopters and into Iraq.

(Don't worry if you sent a letter to the previous address, according to the TCLC all mail sent to Cali. will be forwarded for a month.)

OR you can use MotoMail which is a website set up for writing to soldiers. Supposedly snail mail can take weeks to get to them while MotoMail takes about 24 hours. You type your letter and it goes via the intertnet to the MotoMail people who print it, seal it and send it. You have to register, but it is pretty simple, I just did it. At one point you have to pick Erick's unit and it is towards the bottom of the list. March 23rd Deployment Date

Erick is being deployed from 29 Palms, CA to Fallujah, Iraq on March 23rd. I am not sure about his mailing address while there. My only experience is with a friend who was in the army, I wrote him letters to a US address and they were forwarded to him in Iraq. We will let you know his new mailing address, if there is one, as soon as possible.

Mom and Pop are going to California to see him the weekend of March 17th.

That's all the news I have for now. I will post again as soon as we hear anything else.
